Meet our new Developer Advocate, Jenna Charlton
Hi, I’m new here! I’m Jenna Charlton, US-based Developer Advocate at Qase.
A little background
Where I live: The suburbs of Cleveland Ohio on the shore of Lake Erie
Where I grew up: Shaker Heights Ohio (yes that Shaker Heights, it’s a real place)
Where I went to college: Bowling Green State University for undergrad, Miami University for grad school (in progress)
What I do: I’m the newest Developer Advocate at Qase. I speak at conferences, write blog posts, and will be deeply engaged with the Qase community.
Background in testing
How long I’ve been in testing: I’ve been in testing for around 15 years.
Industries I’ve worked in: SaaS, telematics, insurance, and consulting
My testing philosophy: I believe that testing and testers are at the heart of delivering quality software. Quality is the responsibility of the whole team and testers are uniquely positioned and skilled to help the team adopt wholistic quality practices and take on the role of quality coaches within the organization.
Content creation
My first talk: How Pro Wrestling Made me a World Champion Tester at CodeMash 2018
Why I love speaking at conferences: Conferences are an opportunity to meet new people and discover new concepts and ideas to explore. I always come back from a conference with new ideas and topics I want to research. And as a bonus, I love a (safe) scare, there’s nothing better than that adrenaline rush that kicks in on stage.
What I write and speak about: In my career I have taken a big interest in test practices, test methodology, agile practices, and career development for juniors. My content will usually center around the nuts and bolts of test design, methodologies and test practices*
*and cats, and pro wrestling, and Lego, this is an inexhaustive list…
