Qase Q1 Product Update: The Future of Test Automation is Here

Q1 2025 was a special quarter for Qase, because we ushered in a new era of software testing by launching our AI-powered QA Architect, AIDEN – and that wasn't our only achievement in this quarter. We've also rolled out several powerful enhancements that streamline workflows, improve user experience, and give you more control over your testing processes. 

Let's dive into everything new in Qase.

Meet AIDEN: Your AI QA Architect

The testing landscape has remained largely unchanged for decades. Manual testing, while thorough, is expensive, prone to human error, and can take significant time. Traditional test automation demands deep technical expertise, complex infrastructure, and also ongoing maintenance. These barriers prevent many teams from adopting it effectively.

We introduced AIDEN to eliminate these challenges completely.

AIDEN uses Generative AI to translate natural language test specifications into executable scripts. These are then orchestrated for parallel execution across various browsers within Qase Test Cloud, effectively removing dependencies on manual coding, infrastructure management, and advanced technical skills. Thus optimizing the test automation lifecycle. 

How AIDEN Works

Smart Test Selection: The Repository Advisor analyzes your manual test cases for automation readiness, and generates  improvement tips to assist you in prepping test cases for automation.

One-Click Generation: Open any test case, click 'Automate with AI,' and AIDEN handles environment setup, authorization steps, and intelligent breakdown of your manual steps into actionable automation scripts.

Editing the Steps: When issues arise, you can edit steps quickly. AIDEN regenerates accordingly.

Cloud Execution: Execute your automated tests directly in Qase Test Cloud with multi-browser parallel runs, complete with screenshots, video recordings, and detailed trace files for every execution.

This is just the beginning! We've heard great feedback from our early users, and we're adding more features to help you bring great quality products to market with significantly less time spent on testing.

Enhanced API Control: Mark Test Cases as Automated

Integration and automation go hand-in-hand. We've introduced a new project-level setting that gives you finer control over how test case automation statuses are handled via the API: "Mark all test cases as automated when created/updated from automated test results."

Flexible Automation Status Management

  • Enabled: All API results automatically update corresponding test cases to 'automated' status
  • Disabled: API results leave automation status unchanged (default for existing projects)

This granular control ensures your test case statuses accurately reflect your automation reality, tailored to your team's specific workflow.

Quick Edit Test Steps: Streamlined Test Management

We made editing test cases significantly more efficient. You can now modify all test case properties directly from the preview pane including:

  • Test case steps
  • Descriptions
  • Preconditions
  • All other case properties

You don’t need to switch between multiple screens, and you won’t lose context while updating your tests. This enhancement will reduce the time spent on test maintenance.

Consistent Search with Test Case ID

We've implemented universal search functionality that works seamlessly across the entire Qase platform. Now you can use case IDs (prefixed with project code) to search across:

  • Test repository
  • Reviews page
  • Test plans
  • Test runs

This consistency eliminates confusion and makes finding specific test cases instantaneous, regardless of where you are in the application.

QQL Improvements: Query by UpdatedBy

Our Qase Query Language (QQL) continues to evolve for better traceability. This quarter, we've added the ability to query tests by UpdatedBy. It enables you to:

  • Track contributions by team member
  • Filter recent changes by specific users
  • Analyze testing activity patterns
  • Improve collaboration visibility

Custom Field Ordering: Prioritize What Matters

While custom fields are incredibly useful, their default chronological arrangement (newest at the bottom) isn't always optimal. You can now:

Customize Field Position

  1. Navigate to Workspace > Fields
  2. Select any custom field
  3. Update the order value to change position
  4. Sort the list by order field to view changes

This simple enhancement will have a profound impact on daily productivity by ensuring your most important fields are always easily accessible.
