Last month we shared some exciting new AI capabilities, including our AI Test Case Generator that automatically creates test cases based on the requirements you provide. We’re thrilled to share that this feature has already saved Qase customers more than 2,000 hours of manual work!
We love seeing what our customers achieve with new features and enhancements, so let’s dive into what we released in August.
As a reminder, we take feature requests through our public Canny seriously! Any new feature that started as a feature request includes “✅ Feature request completed.”
Grouped parameters
August 26, 2024
Grouped parameters simplify test case generation when multiple parameters and multiple values are involved.
Previously, a test case with multiple parameters and values would generate runs based on all possible combinations, which could lead to nonsensical tests. Now, you can control which combinations are tested. For example, let’s say you have a test case with two parameters:
- User
- Nick
- Anastasiya
- Password
- 123
- qwerty
The previous setup would generate all possible combinations of these parameters, resulting in 4 test cases:
- User: Nick, Password: 123
- User: Nick, Password: qwerty
- User: Anastasiya, Password: 123
- User: Anastasiya, Password: qwerty
Of course, each user would only have one valid password, so not all of these combinations are useful. With Grouped Parameters, you can define valid combinations — in this case User Nick would be tested with Password 123 and User Anastasiya would be tested with Password qwerty, resulting in only 2 test cases.
Access Control for Jira Cloud integration
August 23, 2024
✅ Feature request completed
You can now grant access to individual Jira projects through Access Control.*
Previously, connecting Qase to Jira Cloud would grant access to all of your Jira projects. Now, you can decide which projects you’d like your Qase workspace to have access to and select only those projects.
If no individual projects are selected, all of your Jira projects will be accessible to Qase by default.
*Access Control for Jira Cloud is available on Business and Enterprise plans.
Ability to link multiple Qase workspaces to one Jira instance
August 23, 2024
✅ Feature request completed
We heard from customers that many of you need to connect various Qase workspaces to a single Jira instance to keep all of your teams connected. Based on that feedback, we’ve added the ability to easily copy the Jira installation from one workspace to another. Read through the help doc for more guidance.
Tags in Bulk Edit
August 19, 2024
✅ Feature request completed
One of our top requested features is here! It’s now possible to add new tags to multiple test cases through bulk editing. And as an added bonus, we went ahead and added the ability to delete tags in bulk as well.
Duplicate widgets
Aug 19, 2024
Building reporting dashboards just got even faster with the ability to duplicate widgets on Qase Analytics dashboards. This capability, combined with filtering, allows you to easily compare results between projects, team members, and other parameters.
New automated test case creation and update settings
August 19, 2024
We released an update to how we automatically create and update test cases based on successful (i.e. passed) automated test results submitted via our API.
You now have two options to manage results submitted via the API:
1. Create test cases from the automated results
2. Update test cases from the automated results
Previously, if the Auto Create Tests option was enabled in Test Run Settings, there were two possible scenarios:
1. Test cases created when a successful result was submitted via the API that had no associated test case in the repository
2. Test cases updated when a successful result submitted via the API contained steps that were different to the associated test case in the repository.
We received feedback that the previous setup caused confusion for customers who expected that enabling the setting would only create new test cases and not update them, too. With this feature enhancement, customers now have more control over both automatically created and automatically updated tests.
Happy testing!
